FAQ

Q: Is there an age limit to participate in the Young Adult Division?

A: No, but there is a grade limit. You are eligible if you have been / will be in High School during the 202-2021/2022 school year. Students who are graduating 8th grade are also eligible to apply as are students who will have graduated from High School in the spring.

Q: When will I find out if I was accepted into the festival?

A: E-mails will be sent out by mid-June to all applicants.

Q: Is there a fee to participate in the festival?

A: No, it is completely free for High School Students to apply and participate in the festival.

Q: Why do I have to provide pictures of my work in my application?

A: The selection committee needs to see 2-3 images of your work so as to determine your acceptance into the festival. They do not need to be formal pictures, we just need to get a good idea of the type of work that you will bring to the festival. However, if you participated in the festival last year then we already have your samples on file and you do not need to re-send them.

Q: What types of art are accepted?

A: Anything! In the past we have had everything from paintings and photography to wood burning and glass mosaics. There is no limit to what types of art you can submit.

Q: Are musicians accepted?

A: While we do not have a formal stage for high school musicians and performers, you are invited to perform in the park. Please e-mail us for more information and a confirmation of your performance. We do not have an application for musicians, but all musicians need to be confirmed by committee members before they can perform.

Q: Do I have to sell my work at the festival?

A: No, each artist has the option to sell their work, but you do not have to.

Q: Do I have to fill out any special tax forms?

A: Not necessarily. If you make under $500 at the festival then your earnings are not taxable.

Q: How does the day of the festival work?

A: We will have a mandatory orientation for accepted artists in early July to explain what to expect during the festival weekend.

Q: Can I join the planning committee?

A: Yes! We always welcome new members, e-mail us that you are interested in attending our monthly planning meetings and we will send you the date of our next meeting.
